Small Beauty Haul ( Tatcha, Too Faced, Becca Cosmetics, etc)

With Christmas right around the corner along with all the sales of black Friday tempting me you know I picked up a few things for loved ones AND myself. I mean it’s only right that I got in on the good deals. Yes this is what I tell myself every time I get to the register with unnecessary things. I started off by hitting up Perfumania they had a sale going, buy one, get one for $14.99. I paid $60.00 for one and $14.99 for the other. I did a happy dance and picked up two perfumes.
I’ve had my eye on Vera Wang Princess forever but for some reason never picked the full size. With the sale going I threw caution to the wind and have it a try. Of course I’m happy I did.
Lastly from Perfumania after lots of sniffing and swatching I decided to purchase a perfume from Vince Camuto. I’m probably going to wrap this up and give it as a Christmas gift. I’ll probably be going back to pick up another bottle and browse through the cologne section for babe.

I didn’t realize that a Sephora had been built in Queens Center Mall until I casually strolled up on it you know I had to pick up some goodies.

Staying on trend with the fragrances I picked up this Marc Jacobs holiday gift set for $18.00.
I had the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette on my Christmas list, but I got to Sephora and realized that I couldn’t wait that long. I instantly fell in love with the neutral clam vibe I got from the palette so it ended up in my basket. I paid $34.00. I took the liberty of showing you the palette with flash and without it because it’s really beautiful.

On one side of the counter is the Too Faced collection on the other Becca Cosmetics when I saw there was only one Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop left on the counter, I grabbed it and tossed it in my basket. I’m a fan and supporter of Jaclyn’s so I was more than happy to purchase. When I got home and realized just how beautiful this color is it’s totally worth all $38. Again the camera really does this no justice Jaclyn really did her thing.
I swear when I’m in Sephora I always get caught up with products lined by the register. They get me every time. I’ve never tried anything from Tatcha prior to purchasing the Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder.
I wasn’t going to give this a try until I realized I can sprinkle a little bit of this in my face wash and create my own exfoliating wash. For $15.00 it better do something I tell you that much. I don't mind paying the price but for the size and the amount given I’m feeling some type of way. I’ll definitely be back with a review to let you know if this is worth the money.
I had a few beauty inside points built up and was given a free sample of Buxom's Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick. I love this color! I left the color choice to the cashier’s discretion and she was spot on.

After browsing Twitter I came across a site, Ideel.com. If you’ve ever heard of or tried Hautelook it ‘similar to that. Hautelook has amazing sales that go live for a few days, but once items are gone they’re gone. Ideel has amazing sales that go live, but also have amazing products from luxury brands that constantly show up.

One of those brands that I’ve had my eye on is Laura Geller, particularly her eye shadow palettes. As a new user to the site you’re given 10% off your first purchase along with free shipping.

I picked up her New Love Story palette for $18.00 on the site it was originally $40.00.

If you can't already tell I'm extremely happy with all my purchases. The first of many holiday hauls that I'll be sharing with you. December is going to be an amazing month and I can't wait to share all the good with y'all.

Started your holiday shopping? Just couldn't resist the good sales? Its okay I understand, tweet me so I can get on the sale. Show me the goods you got on Instagram as well! I love a good haul photo.

November 2015 BirchBox Unboxed

I should start by saying I’m more than excited to have received my first Birchbox in the mail today. So excited that I had to start typing this post right away. I’ve had my eyes on Birchbox since the subscription first came on the scene and members began sharing videos of the goodies they received each month. For the longest time I wasn’t sure if it was worth it because of the size of the samples. Petty, I know. After having received my first box I’m convinced that it’s WELL worth the $10 a month.

I’m not sure what I'm more excited about trying product that I've never heard of or that I’ve only seen in product review videos. Honestly the BirchBox point system maybe what I’m excited about most. Because I try so many different products its great knowing that I’m building points towards a possible free full size product.

I tried my hardest not to look at any previews on Twitter or Instagram I genuinely wanted to be surprised by the samples I received and I semi succeeded? It was hard to do once I received an email telling me my box was on the way. I made it though! And I can’t wait to share with y’all what I got and how I’m feeling about the box thus far.

LOC (BB Exclusive)
One & Done Shadow Stick (Smoke screen) |Full size, $10

From Birchbox’s new brand: ceaseless, waterproof shadow with shades curated by YouTube beauty star Tati Westbrook.”

*SIGH* I really wanted to like this.

Let me preface by saying I follow Tati on all her social media avenues and I watch her videos on YouTube faithfully so I knew prior to receiving my box I knew that a product from her collection was going to included in this box. I was genuinely excited to try one of her products, her make up tutorials are flawless along with everything else about her so I just knew whatever I received from her collection was going to be on point. When I opened my box and saw the color I received I wasn’t thrilled, but I told myself with the holidays right around the corner I can make this work.

Everything was all good until I took the top off and saw that the tip of my shadow stick was damaged. This is where I took my first deep sigh, that moment where you’re super excited to open something then you notice something's wrong with it. I figured the damage wasn’t that bad maybe the box was on something heated and it melted? I told myself I could deal with a smudged shadow stick for Tati I could make it work. When I tried to swatch it is when things got rough.

I didn’t even get to swatch it as soon as I tried the tip broke completely off! So there’s that...honestly at this point I’m more inclined to try her lip products than the shadow sticks. I’m just more of a lip product kind of gal if I’m wearing any makeup on my eyes its either very neutral or just mascara. So the fact that this was a total fail is really pushing me towards giving her lip products a try to see how they hold up. Keep y'all posted on that.

theBalm Cosmetics
FratBoy|Full size, $21

“This talc-free, finely ground blush and shadow formula gives skin a fresh radiance that makes you look young, and feel, young.”

Talk about cute! theBalm Cosmetics is always on point with their product designs and packaging. Since I lean more toward neutral shadows this color is semi perfect on days when I don't want too much color on my lips or I’m just feeling fancy. As a blush? Naaah I’m not with it I won’t be out here looking like a clown for the sake of trying new make up. Not I.

Dr. Jart+
Water Replenishment Mask|Full size, $7.50

“This refreshing cotton sheet mask is loaded with a hydrating serum great for nourishing dry, parched skin.”

The face mask junkie in me jumped out my body when I saw not only a sheet mask in my first box, but a Dr. Jart sheet mask. This is my second favorite item I’ve received in this box, we haven’t gotten to the first. Shortly after I signed up for Birchbox  I began browsing through the products on their site and most of the products added to my "Holiday Wish list" are Dr. Jart products. I can’t wait to get back to let you know if its worth the hype.

PARLOR by Jeff Chastain (BB Exclusive)
Touchable Curl Cream|Full size, $24

This innovative formula combines the silky texture of a serum with the light hold of a cream.”

I’m not going to say too much about this because I’m currently doing a braid out using this product so I’ll give a more detailed review on this in that post. I will tell you that I feel so-so about this.

Beenigma
All In One Face Cream|Full size, $69-129

“This bee venom and Manuka honey cream helps reduce lines and wrinkles. Careful: do not use if you have a bee allergy."

This hands down my favorite product from this month’s box. It literally melts on my face like whipped butter. Being that it’s so light a little goes a long way, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to put more on. Its smells good, it feels good and something is telling me the full sized will last me for a while. If I do purchase the full size I’d definitely buy it through Birchbox because I know I’d received points for my purchase.

Ti's the season for...FACE MASK!

I know, I know I've been gone for more than a minute. More like a year, but I'm back once again. And just in time for my favorite season, Fall. Hot caramel macchiatos, cramming for midterms, lots of beef stew, candles and ridiculous amounts of face masks. I'm not sure I can pinpoint when my love for face mask began, but it safe to safe that I'm borderline obsessed with them. Clay mask, sheet mask, gel mask, D.I.Y.s, carbonated bubble mask, overnight mask, you name it I've or on a boy tried it or have some in my stash somewhere.

Before we jump into some of the goodness for your face I should give you a quick rundown of my skin and how it's holding up. I have normal to dry skin with very few breakouts, mainly hormonal. The use of face mask is essential to skincare regimen. I use some form of face mask at least 4-5x a week. Some might say this is excessive, but my skin loves the extra love and affection especially with the colder months rapidly approaching. I rarely stray from the blueprint I've set for my skincare regimen, it works well for me. Occasionally I swap face mask in and out because I'm a product junkie, but we established that a while ago. Now that I've given a few deets on my face let's dive into some of the goodness I can suggest you try on your face.

Freeman Feeling Beautiful Acai Purifying Clay Mask

My latest impulse buy and I already don't want to imagine the coming winter without this in the stash. I picked this up from one of the many beauty supply stores lined along Jamaica Avenue for $3.99. I really enjoy face mask from Freeman Beauty so the fact that I’m addicted to this one is no surprise to me. I love the creamy texture and the spread ability of the mask.

“A quick fix for dulling skin, powered by an 8-antioxidant blend of Acai, Goji, Mango, Mangosteen, Pomegranate, Cranberry, Noni and Blueberry to neutralize environmental damage. Super oil-absorbent clays draw impurities from skin and clean out clogged pores. Perfect for all skin types.”

Can we get into the smell now? Ok when I opened the lid I instantly walked into a patch of infinite blueberries you can't convince me otherwise. If the scent didn’t put me there than the Smurf blue color definitely did. Not only does it smell good, a bit messy to apply, but it’s also packed with great ingredients for your face. Below are a few of my skin faves,

Bentonite Clay draws toxins from the skin, noticeably shrinks pores, helps prevent breakouts and leave skin soft and supple.
Kaolin Clay is by far the gentlest of the various clays available. It has disinfectant properties which help heal existing blemishes and prevent new ones.
Blueberries are packed with high concentrations of salicylates, the salt of salicylic acid. You’ve probably seen salicylic acid as a key ingredient in acne treatment products. These power berries can remove dead skin, open clogged pores and fight against bacteria.
Mangoes are packed with vitamin C which helps to give your skin a radiant glow.
Cranberries are also a great source of salicylic acid and vitamin C.

The price, the great ingredients I couldn’t pass it up. Feel free to check out their site to see what other great mask they have if I don’t mention most of them before you get the chance.

Another favorite of mine also from Freeman Beauty, Sparkling Pear Pore Cleansing Mask.

I picked this is up a while ago from Bargain Hunters also located on Jamaica Avenue. This definitely isn’t my favorite scented mask, but it leaves my face feeling cleansed and noticeably clearer. This mask has a strong witch hazel smell, but it subsides as this mask dries. I’ve never tried a whipped clay mask prior to this one, but if the texture and consistency of all whipped clays are like this I’m down to try them all. This mask is so light and airy and applies like softened butter. Fair warning don’t let this mask completely dry if you have dry or sensitive skin like most clay mask when it dries your face will feel extremely tight. When using clay mask I follow up with a moisturizer.

“Skin-clearing clays are whipped to an ultra-light consistency, enhancing their ability to coax impurities out of skin all without the dramatic tightening effects of traditional clay masks.”

I semi agree with this, the tightening effect depends upon with face wash I use prior to using this mask. A few of my skin ingredient faves,

Willow Bark Extract is a natural source of salicylic acid, exfoliates and cleans pores to reveal smoother, fresher skin.
Pear Extract has astringent benefits to help minimize pore visibility for a perfected surface.
Tea Tree removes impurities without over-drying skin.
Raspberry Fruit Extract helps fight against bacteria and fungi.

I love this mask particularly for those hormonal breakouts. Its really a skin saver. Check out the website link above for more information on this mask.

My all time mask hands down, if you can’t tell by the looks of the tube already is the Formula 10.0.6 Deep Down Detox Ultra Cleansing Mud Mask Orange + Bergamot.

When my skin is feeling “blah”, when I have a pimple in it’s final stages, when I just feel like using a mask I turn to this. I picked this tube up over two years ago from ULTA and it’s finally on it’s last leg, but I’m going to milk it until the tube is dry. It’s just that good. I love the texture and the lasting results I’ve seen on my skin. As long as the formula stays the same I’ll keep a tube of this in my stash for life.

“This super-cleansing detox mask cleanses impurities for a clearer, brighter complexion. The energy of the orange recharges, while sea salt cleanses and bergamot balances. Your face will notice the difference.”

I see no lies. After using this my skin literally glows, feels softer and is clean. I can't ask for a face mask that does more. Some my skin ingredient faves,

Kaolin Clay
Bentonite Clay
Cucumber Fruit Extract, cucumbers and skin share the same hydrogen level. The cleansing and cooling properties help your skin tremendously leaving it hydrated and supple.
Orange Oil has been shown to increase the ability to absorb vitamin C, collagen production and blood flow, all of which are essential for anti-aging.

If you decide to take a look into any mask mentioned I strongly recommend this one. You can find it at ULTA or their I site.

Another fave of mine also by Formula 10.0.6, Pores Be Pure Skin-Clarifying Mud Mask Strawberry + Yarrow took some getting used to.
I picked both face masks up from ULTA at the same time for $4.99 each. They were more than likely on sale at the time. I went months before giving this mask an earnest try, but when I did there was no turning back. This mask reminds me of strawberry yogurt and applies like it. I’ve often spilled this mask carelessly leaving the top open, it’s pretty runny especially in my warm room.

“This skin-refining mask with energy boosters goes straight to work on clogged pores. Strawberry and rosemary eliminate impurities while yarrow clarifies skin for instant complexion perfection.”

I’m not sure about “instant complexion perfection”, but I have noticed that my skin texture is softer and looks brighter after using this mask. It's much lighter than their previous mask listed. It like the little sister version in my opinion. Some skin ingredient faves of mine,

Strawberry Fruit Extract is very effective in fight blemishes and acne scars.
Yarrow Extract is a wonderful anti-inflammatory agent for your skin.
Rosemary Leaf Extract contains iron, calcium and phytonutrients.

This mask is definitely one to look into if you aren’t looking for the deep clean you’d receive with the others. Check the link above for more deets on this mask.

A new addition to my skincare regimen as of the last few months has been sheet masks. They’re great for lazy mask days and when my skin needs an extra boost of hydration. Sheet masks may be ideal for dry or normal skin, but a downfall for oily, acne prone or combination skin. Essentially a sheet mask is a thin cotton sheet doused in a liquid based formula that claims to moisturize and brighten skin. Most formulas are packed full of vitamins, minerals and amino acids would could be quite beneficial. Results really vary on what your skin likes and can handle.

When I began using and researching different sheet masks things instantly got overwhelming. THERE ARE SOOO MANY. You can literally try “a lot” and you still won’t even begin to make a dent in all the sheet masks available. It’s really about trial and error with sheet masks. I have a few of my current faves, but I’m constantly swapping out sheet masks due to the vast array available and how easily accessible they are.

A cult favorite in the sheet mask game, My Beauty Diary Royal Jelly Mask

This mask claims to refine, revitalize, moisturize, and brighten your skin. I picked this up along with a few others from 0035mm, an Asian skincare boutique off Canal Street in the city. They often sell My Beauty Diary Masks 4/$20 or 5/$20 and you can mix and match your sheet masks which is always great when you're experimenting with sheet mask.

I picked this mainly because I wanted to give royal jelly a try. I've often heard that it's a miracle worker for skin so when I can across this mask it was just perfect timing. What I love about this mask is that I can read it and clearly comprehend everything inside. I've found while delving into the world of sheet mask is that not all mask are created equal or put in English. So you have to do your research before just picking one up.

Royal jelly contains complex B vitamins, amino acids, fatty acids, enzymes, natural antibiotic properties, and anti-aging properties. Royal jelly is like everything we wish we could have for our skin in a tiny pill. Not only is this packed with royal jelly extract, but check out a few of my skin ingredient faves,

Cosphingo is a long last moisturizing agent. It softens and refines skin while enhancing nourishment and resilience.
Hydrolyzed Yeast Protein is often put into skincare products because of it's moisturizing and conditioning properties. It's often used to heal wounds.
Grapefruit Extract is rich in antioxidants and vitamins, it also applies vast anti-aging support. Helping to even skin to and fight off free radicals.
Lemon Peel Extract serves as a dead skin remover which could clog pores in turn leading to future acne breakouts.

Another cult favorite among sheet mask wearers, Innisfree it’s real squeeze mask cucumber
I picked this up from the Yeon on Main Street in Queens, NY. I have a love/hate relationship with Innisfree sheet mask. I often feel like they have too much serum in the sheet mask and it tends to drip down neck when I put it on my face, but my face looks so damn good once I take it off I continue to purchase. A few skin ingredient faves,

Cucumber Juice is not just a hangover remedy gals it's also packed full of greatness for your face. It addition to it being hydrating which helps with puffiness and redness,it's chalked full of vitamin C and caffeic acid which can help soothe irritated skin.
Grapefruit Extract

Hit the links if you're interested in trying some Innisfree masks,

I was so surprised to see just how many places sold sheet mask, Forever 21 included. The have a wide array of not only sheet mask, but skin care products in general. Not all stores will carry the same products though, you may have to move around a bit and see what each store in your area has to offer. I tried a few mask by them, but one of my faves is their Love & Beauty Lavender Sheet Mask for Oily skin.
It's also one of my faves for the price, $1.00. I prefer using this mask when face is super dry it's an instant fix for me. They also have a Tea Tree mask which is great for breakout or trouble pimples.

A few of my skin ingredient faves,
Cucumber Fruit Extract
Witch Hazel is coveted for it's outstanding antibacterial and antiseptic properties.
Oat Kernel Extract commonly used for moisturizing and soothing your skin.

Please feel free to check out your F21 or the link below, for $1.00 you can't pass it up!

I gave you fair warning that you can find sheet mask just about anywhere, Dollar Tree included.
I picked up this Green Tea Face Mask while in North Carolina visiting my older sister and brother. I walked through the aisle not expecting to find anything too good. But their skin care aisle in particular is full of hidden gems, $1.00 hidden gems 😀. I've found that storing this mask in particular in the fridge takes it to the next level because it's a gel sheet mask. Some of my skin ingredient faves,

Hydrolyzed Collagen improves your skin's ability to absorb moisture, making it looking healthier and keeps wrinkles at bay.
Ginseng contains large amounts of phytonutrients that can nourish and boost your skin's metabolism.
Green Tea is packed full antioxidants which help your skin to fight free radicals that can cause damage to cells and tissue.
Honeysuckle Flower Extract has great antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. It's great for minor burns.

Next time you're in Dollar Tree make sure you take a scroll down their skin care aisle.

Sometimes, most times finding the right sheet mask for you can be daunting or costly. Buying a pack of 7 or 16 sheet masks can just expedite the whole process for you. I picked up a 7 pack of LuluLun sheet masks from oo35mm. They're economical and full of royal jelly. Some of my skin ingredient faves,

Royal Jelly Extract
Algae Extract can stabilize minerals that aid in moisturization.
Glycerin has the ability to hydrate your skin and fill in the gaps of dryer skin cells, in turn keeping the outer layer of skin intact.

I've tried another set of mask sheets by LuluLun that I'll be reviewing a little later. I'd honestly recommend these for lazy mask days and for the blatant cost effectiveness. 7 sheet mask packed with goodness for my face? Yeah, sign me up. They make numerous sheet masks types for whatever your skin concerns. Feel free to hit the links for more information,

Because I love face mask sooo much you know I'll be back with a lot more reviews and my current skin care regimen. In the meantime you can keep up with me on Twitter and Instagram.

"Re-up" Haul

Hey party peeps! It's been a minute since I've updated or blogged, between school and life I really haven't had the time to sit down at the computer and blog like I want to. Now that my schedule is a little lighter I'm finally able to get back onto a blogging schedule and I was able to stop at a few places to pick up some hair goodies because my stash was running dangerously low. So without any further ado let's get onto the fun stuff shall we?

I'm not one to try many new bath and body products primarily because I have extremely sensitive skin and it doesn't take much for me to breakout, but I decided to take a chance and go for it when I saw this product in Sephora and I'm so glad I did because this will forever be a staple for me regardless of the price they can have my coins.

This Soap & Glory Oat, Sugar & Shea Breakfast Scrub is the business! I can't rave about it enough honestly. From the smell to the consistency/texture to the final results everything about this scrub is on the money. I've been swearing by Giovanni's Hot Chocolate Sugar Scrub  for sometime, hell I even bought my mom some last year for Christmas. Hands down this knocks that out the park for a few reasons, the texture of the two are completely different the Hot Chocolate Sugar Scrub is a lot rougher on the skin than the Breakfast Scrub I attribute that to the walnut shell powder in the scrub. The Breakfast Scrub literally melts into your palms as you exfoliate your skin it's so soft and creamy, it's ridiculous. Once I step out the shower my skin is noticeably softer and brighter.

Some of the ingredients:
  • Oat, effective in fighting dry, flaky dull skin.
  • Shea Butter is a skin super food helping to protect the skin from environmental damage as well as providing relief to those with suffering with eczema (such as myself).
  • Cupuacu Bio Scrubs, an organic exfoliant harvested from the South American rain forest, gentle enough to be used on the skin.
  • Bananas contain enzymes that help to condition your skin.
  • Almond extract is full of proteins, vitamins and minerals helping to moisturize and smooth the skin.
The price is a bit steep I won't tell a lie. You can pick this up at your local Sephora for $25.00. I definitely plan to stock up on this once those holiday sales roll around and I will be putting this on my Christmas list because it's just that good.

Feel free to check out they're site to see some of their other products and find out where you can pick it up in your area,
  • soapandglory.com

I picked this up after a friend of mine, Jenn put me on and again I'm glad I picked it up. Initially I was hesitant to try it because I had watched a few mixed reviews on Youtube about this shave cream. Many women were saying that this didn't work for them at all and a few even went on to say that they had minor allergic reactions to this product. Thankfully I have nothing, but good things to say about this stuff. First off the creaminess of this is everything I was able to lather this onto desired areas and remove hair without any issues. I also noticed that I didn't have to shave as often as I would if I was using conditioner.

Yes, you read that right I've been shaving with conditioner since high school and it was working out just fine until I found this good stuff. Now the bottle says you can shave wet or dry, but you won't catch me trying my luck like that I'll stick to using this in the shower. The combination of the Breakfast Scrub and this shave cream leaves my body unbelievably soft and smooth.

Some of the ingredients:
  • Shea Butter, helps to diminish wrinkles by moisturizing the skin, promoting cell renewal, and increasing circulation.
  • Aloe, often called "The Miracle Skin Saver", studies have shown that it can help heal minor wounds  not to mention the antibacterial properties that aloe possesses. Aloe also contains vitamins and minerals that help to ease eczema and psoriasis flare-ups.
  • Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin that serves as an antioxidant protecting your body from damage due to free radicals. Free radicals harm the body on a cellular level, leading to conditions that may result in premature aging.
  • Vitamin C is an ascorbic acid which key to the production of collagen, a protein that aids in the growth of cells and blood vessels and gives skin its firmness and strength.
  • Oat, contains anti-inflammatory properties making it effective for most skin types helping to fight dry and itchy skin.
Not only are the ingredients on the money, but this product is,
  • Paraben free
  • Contains no animal by-products
I picked this up at CVS for $4.99, but you can check out their website and the stores listed below in your area to give this a try,
  • evolutionofsmooth.com
  • Target
  • Walmart
  • Duane Reade
  • Riteaid

I picked this up simply because it was a steal and I couldn't help myself, my inner product junkie wouldn't let me pass this up and when I tell you how much I paid you wouldn't have passed it up either. So I was browsing through my local discount store, National Wholesale Liquidators and I just happened to walk into the hair aisle (go figure right?) when I did I saw a whole bunch of  "sale" tags on the shelves. I've never tried any Nexxus products, but I know that the price is no joke. When I saw this on sale for $3.99 I had to do a double take to make sure I was reading the tag correctly and I quickly scanned through the many Nexxus Shampoo bottles until I came across ONE lone bottle of conditioner -_-. I was ready to buy at least two more bottles, but of course I could only find one.

I saw the exact same conditioner in ULTA for $15.89! Talk about a steal? The good thing about this is that my local discount store is always have sales on hair products so I guarantee this will be on sale again soon hopefully I can get my hands on more than one bottle this time.

This conditioner proclaims that it "Targets and binds up to 86% of split ends back together in just 3 washes" *Side eye* I'm not sure about all of that, but I have noticed that my hair sheds less in the shower so that's a plus.

You can check out their site and the stores listed below to see where you can pick this up in your area although you probably won't catch the steal that I did unless it's on sale,
  • www.nexxus.com
  • ULTA
  • Target
  • CVS
  • Walmart
  • Your local beauty supply store

An oldie, but goodie! I used this when I first big buzzed backed in 2012, but once my product junkieism started to rear it's head I started trying different things and this went to the back of my mind. When I was in the beauty supply store the other day I said "Why not?" and opted to refresh my memory when it came to this conditioner. Girl! let me tell you about how soft these's coils were, like butta baby! No joke. I used this as an overnight pre-poo and my tangles melted out by the morning no pre-shower detangling required.

Some of the ingredients:
  • Plantain Enzyme, helps to calm itching and irritation.
  • Tea Tree oil, removes buildup for enhanced shine and volume.
  • Willow Bark extract, exfoliates and detoxifies hair and scalp.
  • Kaolin Clay, rich in silica helping to detoxify your hair and scalp while restoring moisture to dry and brittle hair.
  • Avocado oil, contains a high amount of monounsaturated fatty acids that readily penetrate into hair strands.
Much like SheaMoisture's other products this is FREE of:
  • Sulfates
  • Parabens
  • Phthalates
  • Paraffin
  • Gluten
  • Propylene Glycol
  • Mineral oil
  • Synthetic Fragrance
  • PABA
  • Synthetic Color
  • DEA
AND if that isn't enough goodness for you,
  • It's not tested on animals
You really can't lose with this product, I picked this up for $11.99 at my local beauty supply store, but SheaMoisture has expanded so much that you can pick this up just about anywhere. They now have a website you can check out and hit up some of the stores below to find this in your area,
  • sheamoisture.com
  • Your local beauty supply
  • Target
  • CVS
  • Walgreens
  • Duane Reade

I was so excited when SheaMoisture added this new collection to their brand and I have to say that this hands down is my favorite deep conditioner by them. As long as the formulation remains the same I'll be loyal to this masque. Let's get into the hunt I had to go on to find this though, the Jamaican Black Castor oil line is supposed to be exclusive to CVS, but the funny thing is NO CVS stores in my area carry the line. It wasn't until I stumbled into a beauty supply store on Flatbush Ave. that I found the whole collection. I was going to try the oil serum in the line as well, but I wasn't paying $12.99 for 2 oz. of oil. Sorry, I just couldn't bring myself to do it so I settled for the masque instead and I'm glad I did.

This consistency is not as runny as the Purification Masque, but it's not as thick as some of their other deep treatments either. It's perfect and it glides on my hair without issue not to mention that I can detangle shortly after it goes on. I kid you not this is the business go get you some.Your hair will thank you later.

Some of the ingredients:
  • Organic Shea Butter, deeply moisturizes while conditioning hair and scalp.
  • Jamaican Black Castor oil, loaded with reparative omegas that promotes healthy hair growth.
  • Peppermint, stimulates the scalp for an invigorating experience.
  • Mango Seed Butter, nourishes the hair and scalp help to keep both healthier for a longer period of time.

I'm just going to come right out and say that I'm on the fence about Jansyn's Moisture Max Conditioner by Camille Rose Naturals. I was really hoping that I could use this as a deep conditioner maybe even a leave in, if you can't already tell I'm a fan of multipurpose product and the consistency of this makes it hard for me to do that with my hair. I have to use this as a rinse out/detangler in the shower because it's not heavy enough to be a DC and it's too heavy to be a styler for me. I picked this up at my beauty supply store for $14.99 so I was hoping I could do other things with it, but that was an epic fail.

My hair was very soft and moisturized after washing this out so that's definitely a plus, the product does what it says it's going to do.

Some of the ingredients:
  • Coconut milk, is rich in vitamins C, E, B1, B3, B5 and B6 as well as iron, selenium, calcium, iron, magnesium and phosphorus.
  • Olive oil is rich and moisturizing making it ideal for prolonged use on the hair.
  • Sweet Almond oil, the high vitamin e content in the oil makes it ideal for conditioning your hair strands.
  • Castor oil, works well as a regrowth agent for hair.
  • Marshmallow Root extract is great for soothing and relieving irritation on the scalp, but it is also packed with slip helping aid with the detangling process.
This product much like other Camille Rose Naturals products this conditioner has NO,
  • Alcohol
  • Parabens
  • Petroleum
  • Mineral oil
  • Artificial colors
It's also,
  • Cruelty free
  • Vegan
I haven't seen this conditioner in many beauty supply stores here in the city, but feel free to check out your local beauty supply and their sites below to order it online,

Once I found out that Curls was going to be releasing their Blueberry Bliss Curl Control Paste I was super excited because I couldn't stand their Passion Fruit  Curl Control Paste so I was ready to give this a go. I was searching for this for months before I randomly came across it at the beauty supply and once again the product junkie in me couldn't walk past it. I have yet to use this because I'm saving it for a flat twist updo I'll be doing, but as soon as I opened this I was pleasantly surprised because it smells exactly like the candy, Swedish fish!

                                                              (I couldn't help myself!)

Some of the ingredients:
  • Vegetable Glycerin, works very well as a moisturizer for healthy hair.
  • Castor oil, works well as a regrowth agent for hair.
  • Keratin, is one of the most durable proteins in nature and the main ingredient n the outer layer of hair.
  • Silk Amino Acid, also known as silk proteins, silk proteins bind to the keratin that we have in our hair creating a layer to help protect against moisture loss
  • Mango Seed Butter, penetrates the hair cuticle to fortify the hair from the inside out.
This product is FREE of,
  • Sulfates
  • Silicone
  • Parabens
  • Artificial oils
  • Artificial colors
  • Artificial fragrances
I paid $7.99 for this at a beauty supply store in Downtown Brooklyn (for NYC curlies), but I haven't seen this in many places. Feel free to check your beauty supply stores and the sites below if you're interested in trying this.

This was a completely random purchase, I watched ULoveMegz rant and rave about this Sebastian Trilliant Thermal Protection and Shimmer Complex and I couldn't help myself. It has glitter in it! AHHHHH! I'm not gonna lie I got it for the glitter and the fact that it smells like Watamelon *Bey voice* is just a plus. I plan on using this to blow out my hair before I do that flat twist updo to make twisting easier for myself. I have been spraying this on styles just because I can.
I purchased this from Amazon.com for $8.00 and I would honestly recommend that you purchase it from there if you're interested in trying this because the cheapest that I've seen it was on there. I priced it at ULTA and it was $15.00. Check out the sites below if you're interested in giving this a try,

Beyoncé inspired Flat Twist Out w/ Carol's Daughter Chocolat Blow Dry Cream and African Pride Shea Butter Miracle

Wassup y'all, I decided I was going to try my hand at flat twisting. I know how to flat twist, but I've never actually flat twisted my whole head. Now that Spring is in the air here in N.Y.C. I wanted to try a new style and I happened to be on Tumblr when the idea came to me. A picture of Beyoncé at the Grammy's popped up on my dashboard and the wheels began to turn on how I could recreate that, but on my hair.
I started out with this old janky puff I had been rocking all week. It looked fairly presentable so I rocked it, not to mention I was short on time most of the week, so I didn't bother to cowash it nor make an attempt to detangle so it's safe to say it was a hot mess in there.
Because I was blowdrying my hair I wanted to make sure that my hair and scalp was completely free of any previous product and cowashing just wasn't going to cut it so I whipped out my Chagrin Valley Extra Honey Beer Shampoo Bar, I ordered a bunch of sample shampoo bars about a year ago and they've lasted for quite sometime. Even though they're sample bars I was able to cut each bar twice leaving me with a total of 4 bars. I bought 4 sample bars for $2.70 each, Extra Honey Beer, Coconut Milk, Mud & Clay, and Babassu Marshmallow. I also cut those bars down too, so I have more than enough shampoo to last me a while. If sample bars aren't for you, they're full sized bars will run you $7.95.
The Extra Honey Beer Shampoo Bar is amazing, it's my second favorite from Chagrin Valley. For those of you worried about harsh and damaging ingredients you won't find any of that in ANY of they're products.
They're FREE of:
  • Detergents
  • Synthetic Colors
  • Artificial Preservatives
  • Artificial Foam Boosters
  • Alcohol
  • Petroleum Products
  • Synthetic Additives
  • GMO's (Genetically modified organisms)
The ingredients for the Extra Honey Beer Shampoo:
  • Organic Coconut oilhydrates and protects while adding curl definition.
  • Beer, the alcohol acts as a cleansing and shine agent as well as giving hair a much needed boost in softness.
  • Jojoba oil, because the chemical complex is some similar to our skin's sebum it reaches deep into our pores and hydrates the hair from inside out.
  • Raw Honeya great moisturizer and conditioner that imparts a lustrous shine to dull, dry hair.
  • Mango Butter, much like shea butter this butter has amazing emollient properties in turn softening the hair and helping to seal in moisture.
Once I shampooed my hair felt amazingly soft, but it wasn't left feeling stripped or like it had just been washed and wrung out to try. I twisted my hair up in chunky twist and allowed my hair to air dry over night. Because I was blowdrying I wanted to minimize the amount of heat I used on my hair, I felt that blowdrying damp hair would be too much stress and tension on my scalp so  I opted to wait until my hair was about 95% dry it just so happened that it would take a whole night.
I picked this up at Carol's Daughter flagship store in Harlem for $24.00 a few months ago and I can guarantee that it'll last me for at least a year because a little goes a very long way and I don't blow my hair out often. I have a love-hate kind of relationship with this blow dry cream, because I forget that a little bit goes a long way and I'm heavy handed so I end up using way more than I need to. For this particular style though I got it right and it came out great.
This product had NO:
  • Parabens
  • Petroleum
  • Mineral oil
  • Artificial Colors
The ingredients of the Chocolat Smoothing Blow Dry Cream (straight from Carolsdaughter.com):
  • Cocao Extract, helps smooth hair cuticles while adding moisture and improving condition.
  • Vegetable Protein, works to help rebuild hair to be naturally more smooth and sleek.
  •  Soy Protein, adds strength to hair and controls frizz.
I know my blow dryer is by Conair, but I can't think of the exact name or type. It was $10.00 at my local beauty supply and it's been going strong for sometime now it came with the concentrator nozzle, diffuser that doubles as a nozzle that makes waves in the hair. I applied a dime sized amount to each section and detangled before blow drying each section. I didn't use my comb attachment because I didn't want my hair too straight, I wanted texture. I simply ran the blow dryer down the length of my hair with the concentrator nozzle on.

Once I blow dried I instantly saw the shine and sleekiness that the cream helped my hair maintain. I twisted each section up an prepared for styling. As stated before I've never flat twisted my whole head so I wasn't sure how the parting situation would work, but I tried my best and instead of using a comb to part I used my fingers to separate each section. You'd think it would make the process 10x harder, but instead it was much easier and it made separating upon take down much easier.
I mentioned this previously when in a haul post, I picked this up at my local beauty supply for $4.99. And I like it, but I don't love it. It does the job though, it helps with elongation of curls so if that's your goal this is definitely for you.

The ingredients:
  • Water, your hair's #1 moisturizer.
  • Shea Butter, deeply moisturizes while conditioning your hair and scalp.
  • Mango Butterhelps to soften the hair and seal in moisture.
  • Argan oil, restores while helping promote hair elasticity
  • Coconut oilhydrates and protects hair from heat and chemical damage.
Once my hair dried in the morning the twist plumped up nicely, but my end were all over the place. Next time I do this style I'll be adding perm rods to the ends to add some weight to my twist so that they'll stay down. I'll also be trying another twisting butter for this style even though I used a dot of the Shea Butter Miracle Bouncy Curls Pudding I still felt like it was too much. This product wasn't like a cream it really is like a pudding, a wet pudding I don't know how to describe it, but the it feels wet? Does that make sense?
Middle parts don't work for the shape of my head, but side parts do. I absolutely love how my hair came out, flat twists are a go from now on. I didn't even need to fluff and separate much.
Bey's hair was wavier than mine, if I got my hair straighter, but I was too afraid of heat damage to add any more heat, but I think my hair came out great anyway.
